"Herzog gave me a quick run-down of his tips on how to be a successful film-maker: “Work as a bouncer in a sex club, work as a taxi driver, work as a butcher – earn the money and make your own film. Today, with these little digital cameras, there is no excuse any more.” Herzog stole his first camera and ended up using it to make 11 films. “It fulfilled its real destiny,” he says. "

bad news :(
Had a small soiree last night or rather a large soiree in my very small flat. Had to ask some guests to bring chairs, a small party of guests were marooned on the sofa. It was to welcome to South African filmmakers to Scotland. Everyone of course tore out their hair metaphroically and said 'Why Why?'
We seem to have a terrible streak of miserable Scottish films being produced in the last few years. I really miss the Bill Forsyth of the 80's. And this morning saddened to read in the Guardian that Robin Hardy's sequel to The Wicker Man looks unlikely.
